Environmental Initiatives

At Verge this year we are doing our best to:

Reduce
Reduce power consumption.
Reduce paper printing and production.
Reduce waste with plenty of recycle bins at each event.
Reduce catering and food waste.

Reuse
Reuse materials such as banners.
Source materials and second-hand decorations from Reverse Garbage.


Recycle
Provide recycling bins.
Encourage use of recycled materials for artistic production and decorating.


Eco-Program
Verge will present an eco-focused program, highlighting some of the environmentally friendly art and innovative creative ideas happening within campus and the local community:
- Artist exhibitions that use recycled materials.
- A culture jam with The Sun Chasers who use a solar powered stage.
- An environmentally themed discussion panel in the University’s Law Lounge
- Verge will work with USU Clubs and Societies who focus on environmental sustainability including The Captain Planet Appreciation Society, The Environment Convenors and The Vegetarian Society

Encourage
Verge will present an Enviro Award to whichever Club or Society organises the greenest Verge event
